Ok, so I manage to do in 5 games what other people do in 3-but who cares. I'll catch you one day, Phlabby 😉

When I first saw the title of this thread I was worried because I thought you were talking about your rating.🙂

I thought you were talking about the number of chess games you played or won. But, grats, whatever it was you meant 🙂.

She is talking about bowling and bowling a "600 series" for 5 games which is a 120 average. Usually, a series is for 3 games which would be a 200 average. Still very good Ms.600 🙂

Mr.700 has bowled a 700 series for 3 games which is a 233 average which is very good. I did that myself once.

The perfect series then is obviously 900 which would be bowling 3 consecutive 300 games and this has been done, rarely...

Phlabibit, what is this week's bowling clinic going to be on?

Oh bowling, right. I was confused too. I am Mr 450 or something equally lame. But I'm told I spin round very stylishly after bowling the ball, so I get extra points for aesthetics.

Hell, I haven't bowled in ages. Never got into it.
I play bowls on Sundays now. I kick ass at that. People say I must have been a bowls player in a previous life...

I suppose I'm about...
Mr. 300

on a good day...

5 times, to be exact 😀

.... yeah I know, the things we talk about when I find someone to pick me up and drive me to my bowling league... but hey, that's what friends are for 😛

Does 10-pin bowling count? If so, I'm Mr. 108. My ex-girlfriend used to bowl in a league when she was just a littlin', and she got really pissed off at me when I triumphed during a date. She had her own ball and everything! I can't say it was the root cause of our breakup, but it was definitely a factor...

5 times, eh? Wow! Not very much. Tonight is my league and I hope to crush the anchor on the other team who accused me of intentionally trying to cheat him last time we played. I must spend the rest of the day in meditation and reading "The Art of War".

Very true (except when the 10-pin stays up... that's largely a question of luck I'd say... if you're right-handed). Often enough, I will walk down the approach and think "this is gonna be a really bad shot". I think I would bowl a lot better if I turned around and stopped instead of throwing the ball anyway... *argh*

Angie 😀

Edit: Good luck... I love crushing the other team... been doing it ever since this 200-bowler joined my team maybe 2.5 months ago 😉

Once a played tennis against a girl that I was interested in. She practiced often, was very athletic and really liked it. I'd played once or twice a few years ago. Well, I ended up beating her in a very close game. After that we sorta lost contact (though not entirely for that reason) and she didn't want to play me again. Guess I should've let her win, but it was so tempting to win. And I didn't expect to. Moral: It's OK to beat girls at various games, but not those in which they specialize.

I hope I don't sound like a cynic or a snob or some type of bowling afficionado (oops too late) but many times not all the time (and I think Mr.700 would confirm this) but you can often tell if you are going to leave a 10 pin or not.

If you hook or curve the ball (put a spin on it), sometimes it will reach the pocket but lose its energy before it gets there and the ball will not get a great reaction. You see those guys with the super big curve balls leave 10 pins (right-handed) or sometimes 7-10 splits because their ball runs out of steam.

I think most of the time if you have a slight hook but maintain a direct path to the pocket, the ball will explode into the pins. Yeah you will still sometimes leave the 10 but not as often and you get a greater ball reaction. Another pin you might leave, if hitting the pocket hard is the 8 pin sometimes known as leaving a "solid 8". This is due to your ball having so much drive and force behind it that instead of the 5 pin taking out the 8, your ball drives the 5 pin straight back.

P.S. Thanks for the well wishes tonight. I will give my report good or bad tomorrow
