Off to see one of my favourite groups - YES, in concert in Oxford. Hope I'm not disappointed ... conflicting reports about the format for this one-off chrity gig: Steve Wright on Radio 2 said they were going to play all of Topographic Oceans (unlikely?) - Web site talks about 'semi-acoustic performances', Press release mentions support acts including a juggler plus surprise guests and I've even read that Jim Davidson will appear. Could be an interesting evening! 🙂

Damn

I wish I knew about this earlier, I was brought up being forced to listen to Yes, and I actually started liking them. Would love to go.

I saw them once, many years ago, during their Big Generator tour.

Yes they are, with my one of my favorite bands, Dream Theater, opening.

Can you post whaterver the setlist was after the show? I saw them here in Seattle a few months ago, and I'm curious about what may be different. Mostly I want to know if they're still playing Mind Drive. I've been trying to hunt down a decent quality boot with that song on it.

And, yeah, Topographic in its entirety, considering Rick's opinion of that album, is just a pipe dream. Kinda like me dreaming to see Rush play Hemispheres in its entirety (including Cygnus X-1))...

The set list will bear no resemblance to their US tour I'm sure... they played the numbers semi-acoustically for a start and it was very much a one-off concert. Plus Rick did lots of solo piano stuff (like nursery rhymes in the style of famous composers).

Stoker: It went well and Jim Davidson wasn't the only comedian - Paul (?) Boardman and Roger De Courcey (with Nookey Bear of course) also made an appearance. The comedy juggler (Steve Rawlings) was also a great act. Lots of gags about ex-wives etc.. Rick said one of his divorced him because he wouldn't open the car door for her.. "mind you", he said, "I had trouble swimming to the surface myself!".

Great night - I really enjoyed it!
