Better to have a cactus die on you than to die on a cactus.

I might experience that someday. I have a lot of Ferocacti. All are since last week stored in my old room at my parents house. It happens at least once every winter I almost fall on top of one of those when I visit my parents during winter time. Somehow I managed to just keep my balans when I walk to a window in that room (I have left just a small path to walk on, every other cm2 is filled with lots of prickly plants).

I am bound to get pierced by my plants one day...!

you know it's winter in Canada when there are more snowblowers and snowmobiles going around than cars and trucks.

Now the sun was in my eyes
So forgive me if I was blind
But I can suddenly see the light
Now the blinds are raised,
Now he's finally spoken
Winter's finally broken
Realise I'm heading for colder days

He can feel it just around the corner
He can feel it on every breath
And something tells him its good goodbye summer
And something tells him, its the kiss of death

Losing at the tracks, loosens all his taps, I smell winter on his breath
(I smell winter)
Theres a chill down my spine, but the weather's fine, I smell winter on his breath
(I smell winter)

You better button up your coat
Or it will catch you in the pit of the throat
You can certainly feel the wind blow
When your by yourself,
And when the snow has finally melted
You better think about who you shelter
'Cos one of these days it might just be someone else

And he's searched underground and overground for a partner
Played his harmonica 'til his lips were raw
He's looked through tins and rubbish bins just for an answer
So far each year he's drawn the shortest straw

Losing at the tracks, loosens all his taps, I smell winter on his breath
(I smell winter)
Theres a chill down my spine, but the weather's fine, I smell winter on his breath
(I smell winter)

I smell winter
I smell winter
I smell winter
I.....(smell winter)

Time, time, time, see what’s become of me
While I looked around
For my possibilities
I was so hard to please
But look around, leaves are brown
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hear the salvation army band
Down by the riverside, it’s bound to be a better ride
Than what you’ve got planned
Carry your cup in your hand
And look around, leaves are brown now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Hang on to your hopes, my friend
That’s an easy thing to say, but if your hopes should pass away
Simply pretend
That you can build them again
Look around, the grass is high
The fields are ripe, it’s the springtime of my life

Ahhh, seasons change with the scenery
Weaving time in a tapestry
Won’t you stop and remember me
At any convenient time
Funny how my memory slips while looking over manuscripts
Of unpublished rhyme
Drinking my vodka and lime

But look around, leaves are brown now
And the sky is a hazy shade of winter

Look around, leaves are brown
There’s a patch of snow on the ground...

I made myself a snowball
Just as perfect as could be.
I thought I’d keep it as a pet
And let it sleep with me
I gave it some pajamas
And a pillow for it’s head.
Then, last night it ran away,
But first –it wet the bed! Gotcha!

Der stürmische Morgen

Wie hat der Sturm zerrissen
Des Himmels graues Kleid!
Die Wolkenfetzen flattern
Umher in mattem Streit.

Und rote Feuerflammen
Ziehn zwischen ihnen hin.
Das nenn ich einen Morgen
So recht nach meinem Sinn!

Mein Herz sieht an dem Himmel
Gemalt sein eignes Bild –
Es ist nichts als der Winter,
Der Winter kalt und wild!
