What was the first objective fact about the outside world that a child of yours told you that you weren't already aware of?

Interesting question. I am sure I had an ah-ah moment when it happened.

There's also the era that begins once they cross the threshold of a playgroup or school. From then on their take on the world becomes influenced by people in ways that are largely not under your control.

When I was staying with friends in Perth once, their 5 year old daughter came home from school escorted by her mum. I was out shopping or something. The 5 year old asked her mum where I was. "I don't know, my little aphid," replied the mother.

"Mum! How on Earth can FMF be outside the house and you don't know where he is?"
