Why max Monroe is important?

Max is a master of disguise, among other things, he has a passion for chess (grandmaster level)...

Falcón (2012) - A UK-Spain-Germany collaboration, set in Seville. Only 2 cases (4 episodes). Based on the Robert Wilson novels. Very atmospheric and constantly intriguing/ominous. Its mystique is added to by the fact it came and went so fleetingly.

Boston Blackie was also a radio show long before TV.

Mr. Palfrey of Westminster (UK 1984-85 short-lived 10 episode series), not exactly a "crime/detective show" but the character played by Alec McCowen (a proper British actor, like on the stage and all that - he didn't do much TV) was a spy catcher and it involved detective work and the spying he was countering was a crime.
