The first game I can remember playing was Atari’s ‘Pong’ sometime in the 1970s. I remember being initially fascinated with it but quite quickly becoming bored also.
A friend had a Commodore 64 who introduced me to a sort of real-time game set in space which involved travelling to different planets and avoiding space pirates, but I can’t for the life of me remember its name.
Edit: 👆🏻it was called “ELITE”
Then the arcade era arrived with Space Invaders which was amazing in its day and so innovative with the duel player sit-down table console. I little later I got hooked on the likes of Defender, Galaxian and Centipede (which was in my local pub for a couple of years). The arcades were great places to hang out and not meet girls.
Super Metroid and Tomb Raider are still great games imo.
My favourite go-to legacy game is still the first Halo, but I’m stuck in that era and never really moved on.
First home computer game would be some ZX81 rubbish. Lack of games meant learning to code. And here we all are all these years later on this finely crafted web site! 😉
All time favourite though, something I could still happily waste a few hours on even now is C&C Generals. Those Command and Conquer games felt like they were made for me back in the day!
@diver saidLike you my first was Pong. That was my first and as far as I can remember last video game I played. I preferred “normal” games. Ya know, like hopscotch or skipping.🤔😉👍

Many hours spent playing Manic Miner with my cousin. (Platform game).

Great games in the day, I also got hooked on zaxxon, and dig dug when I was younger. Had the 64 also when it came out, talk about crap compared to what I saw my kids use.
@Ghost-of-a-Duke saidThe spectrum was wonderful home entertainment

I enjoyed the labyrinth games Dun Darach,Marsport and Heavy on the Magic especially the cryptic puzzles and making the maps.
Even though I'm not really a football fan, there was a game called "the double" where you were supposed to win the league and the FA cup by picking a team.
There was a save option so you started from where you finished.
It was notoriously difficult to load. After waiting 6 or 7 minutes it would crash right at the end about 50% of the time.
One night after several attempts I got it to load!!
I picked the team and went to the results to see how I had done in the match
Every result was 0-0!!!
As I said -difficult to load!!
@venda saidI'm going through a phase of nostalgically watching old spectrum videos on YouTube. But I remember the impossibly massive sprites of Dun Darach and Marsport from memory. Bleeding edge graphics for the time.

@Russ saidThis is a good idea for satisfying the nostalgia craves.

In fact I watch YouTube for almost everything now; it is astonishing what one can find on that platform.
First video game I've played was the original Super Mario Bros. for Nintendo.
Fave games....Street Fighter remains my favorite Franchise.
I don't have a favorite individual game but if I had to choose some contenders:
-Final Fantasy 7 (original)
-Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
-Uncharted 4.
-Robo Cop vs. Terminator (Sega)
