Now I have another related question: many of the supposed invites do not show "accept game offer." How does one accept such an offer? email the player??

I would imagine the ones that you cannot accept have rating restrictions on them.

You send them a private message asking if they would like to play a game with you. If they don't want to play with you, you get no game.

You can't accept a game if you don't fit the game's criteria.
