I think the problem you're describing results when one of the players loses his or her connection. You can tell when you're in this mode by trying to send the other player a "chat" message. When you hit return, the message disappears without being posted.
I have also noticed that some players tend to "lose their connection" when they're about to lose the game and they're not big enough to resign or even just abandon the game.
I was using Blitz fine earlier today.
Then, the Adobe Flash Player installer prompted me to run the update. Now, Blitz won’t load…just a blank screen.
On my other PC (that did not receive the flash update) Blitz opens fine.
So, I am wondering if the latest Flash is causing the problem.
I use Windows 7 with Adobe Flash Player ver 10 ActiveX
I tried uninstalling / reinstalling and rebooting to no avail.
Any one else having this problem?

You are describing the exact sequence of events that I experienced -- I updated Flash to their latest version, and since then Blitz hasn't worked. So, maybe there's some incompatibility issue that needs to be resolved?
