Hi,

Whats with all the file downloads trying to take place here on RHP.

Everytime I visit the site to make a move I am asked to download a few files.

Thanks

Doesn't happen to me (WinXP SP2/Firefox 1.0.6). Sounds like you need to do some adware/spyware/"other nasty" scanning on your PC.

Hi and thanks.

My machine is clean, and my firewall, spyware and antivirus are all doing the job.
This is how I found out. They have stopped them being downloaded.
I am just wondering if they are deliberately being sent as part of the advertising on this site.

Thanks again

Ok.
Its not just one machine that I have found suffers from this.

Here is just one of the files
File name: sona_728x90new.js
File type: Jscript script file
From www.h15.com

Do any of the more knowledgeable of you know what this is?

Many thanks for the help.

I got off my lazy butt and did a bit of homework and these are just broken Java referrals for ads.
A bit annoying but harmless enough.

Ragnorak have you been using a computer for long? 🙂
This had nothing to do with a corrupt computer.

Subscribers won't see those adds when making moves.. need a non-subscriber to post if they are getting this too.

Referrals for ads brought on by what though?
A few months ago, I swore blind that I had a clean machine, yet every time I came on RHP, I got spammed left right and centre. I eventually found a nasty bit of malware hidden called a better Internet or something like that. Spybot wouldn't touch it nor would adaware. I had to find some removal instructions and start playing about before I got rid.

If you're all still using IE then I have no sympathy.

Anorak, with his degree, will naturally be using something else. Otherwise he'd be a fraud, wouldn't he?
