    Book a long vacation (greater than the likely maximum length of absence, to give you time to move when you get back) and cancel the part you don't use. (I'm assuming you can do this, someone who's done it would be helpful here.) If you don't have vacation days available, explain to your opponents and offer to draw the games.

    What if the option is not hanging but 'the chair'...that would be most unfair to die such a painful death based upon the fact your 'timely decision' is entirely due to a few chess games ongoing...
    A quandary indeed, glad it's no my decision...best keep this unfortunate dilemma extremely quiet from now on, it could affect the appeals process !!!!
