RUSS AND CHRIS!!
What about a Quick Fire Knock-Out tournament.
1 day T/O outs.
Have 128 players, split players in 4 main groups like #1, 5, 9,...125. so that there are 32 players in each group. Then let player #1 play the player #17 and #2 to play #18 .......#16 to play #32. If the result is even after two games (black & white), then have a new game started immediately where the lower ranked player have white.
A possible seating could be like this. The major advantage would be that as soon a winner of one group is determined, the player would know the next opponent so the next round could be started immediately when the winners are known.

Game #11&17Game 1 Winner

Then in the end, the four remaining players should play a Quick Fire Final against each other. I believe that there are several players who would like to enjoy these (most likely) high quality Quick Fire games in the end!
Sincerely,
Harri
