    Do I have to click move in order to save my written notes ingame?

    I believe so. I generally make my move, jot down my notes and then click move. Doing this I have not had any problems.

    On my games, when I write notes all I have to do is click on "save notebook changes" irrespective of who's move it is, or whether I move or not.

    No, you can't and you don't.

    Go to a game where its your move. Write something in your notebook. Try clicking on "save notebook changes". You'll find that you can't because it isn't there. The only way to save notebook changes on your move is to make a move, which is a royal pain in the...

    Unless you're using the new beta version, which may have this functionality.
