What do the star colors mean? The wings? The rotation?

Thanks.

its in the FAQ i think - all about the number of moves you made on the site (deeper red = more moves, rotation = >100000 moves)

Not sure about the wings though myself.

The site was originally free to join. These people were "grandfathered" in when it became a pay site. but the people who paid were differenciated with wings.
So, the guys without wings, are from when the site was free to join.

As far as I know that's not quite right. I may be wrong, but I think originally you paid for a lifetime membership. Those guys are wingless.

Might be right there. Seems I do recall something about a "one-time membership fee".
The more I think about it, the more I think you are correct.

Either way, the wings signify annual subscribers and the wingless are the ones "grandfathered" in from the previous system.

Yes, the single stars (pawn stars) are from the days before subscriptions. These brave souls committed their hard earned money to the fledgling service, and helped get us to where we are today.

A wingless star has all subscriber benefits, but they still see ads on the site, so many people upgraded to the winged variety early on. Profiles still state if they were an original star though. Check out Rhymester's profile, for example.
