Only games in the two first moves in tournaments (and sieges?) are automatically timed out.

I vaguely remember (or maybe I just made up) that other times around new year Russ has suspended auto-timeouts.

Your opponent has his vacation flag up, and this makes him immune from timeouts.

Nope. Auto-TO after 2 days applies to all tournament games.
