There is no non-voting section this time because nobody sent me entries for it, but it can still be created if you have pictures you want me to put there.
Please don't vote for your own entries. Voting is obligatory for everybody who has entered this round, and it would be much appreciated if everybody who plans to enter future rounds would vote in this round as well. And of course any other votes are very welcome, too!
Comments and discussions are not only allowed, but encouraged right from the start. I would like everybody to say something about their favourite picture. Feel free to comment on other pictures as well. The names of the photographers will not be revealed until the voting is over.
Voting will close on Friday, 1st September, 20 UT. The discussion can and should be continued after that, of course. This round will be followed by:
17. Advanced Editing
18. Blue/Red/Yellow (people enter one picture per colour; voting is for each colour and an overall winner)
19. Movement/Motion
Further rounds will be decided on by vote (if we ever get around to it).
If you have questions, complaints or ideas, send me a PM. You can also contact me at rhpphotocomp@gmail.com
Enjoy!
Edit: I just noticed that I titled the round "Letters" instead of "Words / Letters". But I am too lazy to change that now. Mabye later.
Originally posted by rhbI don't think we ever decided on that one, did we? If I recall correctly, it's just in the list of suggestions, and you'll be able to vote for it if I ever get organized enough to make a final list of suggestions, sort them into main categories (I'll definitely need help with this one) and ask Russ to set up a page for voting.
What about round 20. Abstract ?

I've got your corner... give me a shout if you want a hand sorting main categories.
Originally posted by rhbThanks. Right now I'll go back to being apathetic for a while.
Understood.

By the way, note to everybody who starts with a partial vote: That's fine (it's nice to get some spontaneous reactions to some of the pictures), but please include the partial vote when you make your final vote, or I'll get all confused.
1st - 10 pts - 10. Janneke
2nd - 8 pts - 1. Bee
3rd - 6 pts - 16. Peg
4th - 5 pts - 3. Broken!
5th - 4 pts - 19. Stick
6th - 3 pts - 20. Tagged
7th - 2 pts - 5. C-L
8th - 1 pt - 15. Peas
Janneke is fantastic. The dof is great.
Bee is a great concept and excellently executed. Not only are the flowers and letter perfectly focused and exposed, but there is also an interesting sky.
Broken is a class shot. I love all the bullet holes on the side. The only thing is that I think pure B&W would have been better than sepia, as this would have made the coloured letters stand out more.
Peg is another clever shot. It would have scored higher apart from the misspelling. 😉 It seems like the egg and the P are reflected in the surface, it might make a nice shot to see those reflections in the shot as well.
Another great round.

7th - 2 pts - 2. Tapas
8th - 1 pts - 3. Broken!
A lot of interesting, amusing and clever shots this time round. Impossible to judge objectively... so I've tended towards the more "natural" photographs, things that you are likely to encounter in the world, rather than the more abstract set pieces, which to be honest, had very little emotional appeal.
For my money, Lighting the Way and Janneka hit home.
EDIT: Realised I'd left one of my favourites out.
