Joined 16 Mar '07 Moves 7738 Here is a game where I played the Hammerschlag against an expert and almost won.
Raven (2114) - Oponent (2037)

I could have probably continued playing in the end instead of settling for the perpetual, but like I said above, I was low on time and didn't want to risk it.

That has to be the best opening ever!
You should start playing that in all your Rhp games as white so they can suffer that wrath of the Hammerschlag!
Game 3325615
Game 3382715
Game 3407527
Game 3336104
4-0 Amazing! Is there a better opening? I doubt it!

1.f3? e5 2.Kf2? Nf6 is what I'd play. 😏

Joined 31 Mar '07 Moves 1441 Doesn't BC5+ as Blacks 2nd move after 1. e5 give black the initiative?
watching you...
Joined 06 Feb '06 Moves 27029 The Hammerschlag does have one major advantage tho...
when all the pieces are traded... whites king is more active 😲

White can just go 3. e3
But then Black can play d5 and control the centre

Joined 14 Jul '06 Moves 20541 At the risk of sounding even more stupid than usual, can someone suggest what 1.f3 then 2.Kf2 actually achieves from a strategic point of view?
What is the reasoning behind the opening? - after 1...d5, 2...e5 then usual ...Nf6, ...Nc6 etc it looks pretty terrible.
