What is the reasoning behind the opening? - after 1...d5, 2...e5 then usual ...Nf6, ...Nc6 etc it looks pretty terrible.
It humilates your opponent 🙂
How would you feel if someone played that against you?
It's a really hard opening to play against. White's king is out into the open and you feel the need to attack the crap out of it. If you can hold your pointless checks in check, Black will stand quite well off.

Get a grip! There are no humiliating chess moves. Humiliating is going to the mall, walking around for awhile only to notice that you're bare ass naked and you're not dreaming. Get a life! Try fishing.

So there's no actual reason for doing it other than wasting 2 moves, exposing the king, giving away the center & not being able to castle.
Did I miss anything or is there any actual strategy in the opening?

I think the overall strategy could be to entice black to attack, then you trade all the pieces and try for an endgame advantage with a more active king... something like that.

Originally posted by Raven69 Ah, the double Hammerschlag...'tis actually not very good for black...I mean, what kind of idiot would weaken their king like that??

Has anyone of the master played the Hammerschlag that are available. It is a fascinating opening and I would like to get some more information on it. My compliments Raven. Nice games, and if Korch endorses the Hammerschlag it must be good. I just wish I had more information. Thanks for any forthcoming information.
