Oh no. I actually wrote "should be" first, but felt it was the wrong choice of words, because to me, it is. Of course, that doesn't mean it is for the rest of the world.
So, ok, it would be refreshing.

Originally posted by NordlysSounds like you might have a multiple personality problem. Here's what I do. I put a webcam (not connected to the web) to record my every move. I then look at the recordings to tell whether or not I have this disorder.
Yes, you said so in the Dead Thread. That's reassuring. Otherwise I might start to wonder if you were me.
Now, it works fine, but sometimes there are blank recordings. Like a jump in time. I figure I have a problem with the software. Any tips?
Originally posted by stockenNo, it's rather the opposite. Maybe it could be called a multiple person disorder. I don't have several personalities, but I have to share my personality with you. But if you have multiple personality disorder (it sounds like you do), that means you would still have a personality left if you gave mine back to me. Unless you have more than two personalities, that would leave us both with exactly one personality. Deal?

Oh no, you got the stocken personality instead of Nordlys. I am sorry about that one.
Nein, das is nicht gut!

So, where was all your indignation when the " All Dutch" only tourney was created. Hmmmm?? It appears to me that you are selectively discriminatory in your 'anti-discrimination' protests, which in fact makes you a hypocrit.
As to Xanth, he gets what he deserves. Russ has no control and no re-dress over what I publish on another site. Xanth practically da ...[text shortened]... nows what he has to do to to prevent this. It's got nothing to do with morals.

It has everything to do with common decency, people have a right to choose when and how they release their personal details, be they found in the public arena or not. You've more or less stalked Xanthos for a number of months now and I doubt very much whether you resisted the curiousity of delving into his personal details prior to this escapade. You are out of line and what's worse, you should know better. People have handles to protect their identities if he'd wanted people to know he would have revealed it himself. You should have respected that notion.

If memory serves me correct you claim to work as a teacher / tutor of some sort where Xanthos studies. If (I'm not saying you did, but if) you accessed college records to get his personal details, with no reasonable grounds to do so - that in itself would be a breach of Data Protection Act in the UK (I'm not familiar with similar legislation in NZ). To then publish these in the public domain takes this a step further and would most certainly open you up to penalty (again based on ym understanding of UK Data Protection rules) should Xanthos choose to file a complaint.
@ Anyone
As for the tournament, don't you ladies find it a little patronising that this is being done e.g. 'here have a tournament for yourself, 'cos you never win any with boys in' (hence the outrage when Xanthos entered as his strong rating makes him a player difficult to beat)?
I agree with comments that this is Positive Discrimination gone mad. Chess ranks alongside the likes of Poker in terms of a playing field that is level regardless of gender - it is brain vs brain, nothing else.
Moving onto other sports that are not the most physical, would you say Michelle Wie should be forced to rejoin the WPGA circuit in golf? Should Alison Fisher have not been allowed to play against the male snooker players? These ladies are/were (respectively) breaking down century old gender barriers at the highest level in their sport, and yet there remains a serious lack of interest to pick up the batton and carry this on, more a cheery outlook towards 'exclusive' women only events.
Really, I'm not against the tournament going ahead - it won't change my life significantly - I am however amazed by the willingness of you all to be pigeon-holed into a tournament that creates the perception of an 'if I play boys I don't expect to win' outlook. Where's the progress going to come from with that attitude? You need to stretch yourself against all available opposition to reach the top, not limit yourself!
I could arrange a ginger only tournament, and hand pick who gets entered. I'd have a strong chance of winning on that basis. Would I get any satisfaction from this? No!

What are the penalties for data controllers if they breach the law? Section 85 of the 1993 Act sets out the remedies that the Complaints Review Tribunal can award. They are:
"(a) A declaration that the action of the defendant is an interference with the privacy of an individual;
(b) An order restraining the defendant from continuing or repeating the interference, or from engaging in, or causing or permitting others to engage in, conduct of the same kind as that constituting the interference, or conduct of any similar kind specified in the order;
(c) Damages in accordance with section 88 of this Act;
(d) An order that the defendant perform any acts specified in the order with a view to remedying the interference, or redressing any loss or damage suffered by the aggrieved individual as a result of the interference, or both;
(e) Such other relief as the Tribunal thinks fit."

Lol, what a load of BS, what exactly am I being a hypocrite about? And why can I not comment on this thread without reading other threads which have nothing to do with this one? I say again, if you had askedme my view on the All Dutch tournament, you would have recieved the same response from me. Are you having problems understanding that concept?
Not true. I have only responded to his taunts and callouts regarding my ability to produce personal data. You state you don't follow every thread and so really, you have no idea about what you're talking about.
Nonsense, over the past few months Xanthos and I have had a number of conversations about your overt interest in him.
Xanth lost any right to respect when he entered a 'girls only' tourney just to hi-jack it. I am in the process of releasing his personal data on another site and there's naff all anyone can do about it. Again I repeat, if its all too distasteful then all Xanth has to do is withdraw. Simple eh? Let's see who's bluffing who??
I'm sorry, how does entering a tournament (which he has every right to enter) remove his right for his personal information not to be pasted all over the internet? And now you're saying it's going to another site altogether? Are you trying to tell me this is a mature and apt response to the situation? You're taking this way too far, you're not even in the tournament so, pray tell what is it to you whether Xanthos is in it or not?
