Arrakis, I still don't see why you can't just take names of women who want to play in this and then go to Russ with a list of names and have our tournament with no guys. Isn't this how intra-clan tournaments are done? I personally know women who have said they'd play in it if the guys were kept out. It can't be that freakin' hard to do...

We just want a tournament where we can play some other girls, and not have the men push their noses into it. Yet, you men all go on and on and on about some stupid crap like "it's saying the women can't play on the men's level" o ...[text shortened]... t it... I'm with wucky and will be withdrawing asap. Go enjoy your victory guys...
Stay in there Suzi. Let the idiots show who they are.

No, I'm done... let's see how stupid they all feel playing only other guys in a "Ladies' Open"... I'm telling you here and now though, that if there were a "Men's Open", you wouldn't see any women entering, and you sure as HELL wouldn't see anything like the temper tantrums the men have been throwing over this tournament.

Russ this is a good point, since we cannot rely on everyone to be honourable isn't Suzi's suggestion workable?

It's pretty pathetic, isn't it? I'm with the ladies.

Oh god! Do any of you read the threads properly? It was a ruse. I never had any intention of entering the tournament, why would I care about who enters arrakis' tournament? This has all been about skeeter's threats on Xanthos. I couldn't care less if there is sexism here or not, as wucky so adequately pointed out and upon which I withdrew. I hope you all enjoy the tournament, suzianne, I hope you do not withdraw and as I have said to wucky I think she should stay in as well. This was never about the tournament, it was about skeeter and XanthosNZ.

Although she is specifically answering your message I believe she is directing her response at all the guys that are (were in your case) in the tournament. Do you agree that any guy that actually plays in this tournament is being extremely petty and pathetic?

Oh really? Pray then, tell me what was it about BEFORE skeeter entered into it? You know, the reason why Xanthos was ever in it to begin with? Wasn't he the one who started in with all this sexism and discrimination crap? Then everyone just jumped on the bandwagon, until now you have a Ladies' Open with no ladies... way to go, guys...

skeeter had threatened Xanthos in our private forum well before I posted here. I cannot vouch for Xanthos' reasons for for entering the tournament, I'm sure he can speak for himself. There is no reason the tournament cannot go ahead, except if you all withdraw so please, stay in and play.

After reading this thread and done a lot of (negative) head shaking, I'm coming out of the shadows just to say that I'm also with the Ladies and that I think it's a nice and friendly idea of Arrakis to sponsor it.
btw I don't agree with the way Skeeter is after xnz.

Personally, I can't stand this PC sexism thing. If I wanted to organise a left- vs right-handed tournament or under 45s vs over 45s or a height-based tourney, why can't I? Probably because some idiot is always going to come along and say this is discriminatory in some way. Ageism, sexism, heightism etc. Scr#w you - people choose to participate or not. As you've seen in the Ladies tourney, some have decided not to.
All strength to Arrakis.

GET THE MALES OUT!

If you are a male and still in this tournament, you should get a temporary ban from Russ just for adding to his administrative headaches.

Whatever point you wanted to make has been made.

Whatever arrakis' reasons for sponsoring the tournament are unimportant. I applaud him for coming up with the idea and being willing to sponsor it.

There are women-only sections of most pasttimes. Including chess.

This whole thing is stupid, Russ obviously approved of this tournament idea because he thought it would add to the level of enjoyment on the site by the female paying members. There is no good reason to impede their enjoyment of this site.

Well said, there appears to still be quiet a few males in the 2 tournamenst yet they are not saying anything?

Men entering a women's tournament as a "joke"? Utterly, utterly childish.
