A great sacrifice or dumb luck?

Was this 14 move checkmate from a crazy sacrifice or just dumb luck?

My opponent is much better than his rating (timed out on vacation)Game 2493396

move 9. g2-g3 would have led to white losing the castle.

B)...Qh4+ g3
C)...Qxd4 c4 [Nc3 also good] and I think black runs out of good attacking possibilities...Qxd4+? Qxd4 exd4 (2pwns4KN)

Other responses arn't much better either, simply because White can "develop" a defence.


by 11. I think White is a little buggered....

However, I still think there are defences to be had, which at the VERY least, make the win more difficualt.

I.e 12.Bxc6 bxc6 a3 Rb8+? Ka2

You're 1500. You should already know that overlooking a mate-in-one (as White did at the end) isn't sound chess. Instead of Re1, White could try a3, c3, or even dxc6 (still better than mate in 1, although it looks risky).

12. Qxd5 looks good for white as well.

its not that hard to beat a 900 player a piece down. it wasn't dumb luck. it was just pure stupidity of your opponent.

He's regularly 1500, and you got beat by a 1200 using the hammerschlag, so watch the stupidity comments.
