The sad story of my games v women is here.

Since then I've managed a win v WFM Carey Wilman and
Rosie Guilian so I'm ahead by 1pt.

Yes, I meant 'races' instead of 'nationalities'.

Again, the key word is 'ethnically' - religious practice is not what I'm after here.

"What do you think of Zhang Shan's story?

It's a shame for Shan, it's just one of those Zhings. 😉

Last time I was there that single malt elixir tasted of dandruff shampoo. That is until about the

At least I can pronounce it: Islay.

it is absolutely tragic my dear Dutchess, to have ones hopes, dreams and aspirations crushed because of an injustice. I make no attempt to understand why the Olympic committee should have behaved in this manner, for it reeks of inconsistency and unfairness.

dandruff shampoo, you sure you weren't drinking American bourbon or aftershave lotion? yes its pronounced (eye-lay), Islay and spawns some of the most cherished malts! black beetle himself owns a piece of Islay, near the distillery which he may visit any any time he likes! it is best supped in front of an open fire with a copy of rampant chess after a good day walking on the mountains!

OK Joking aside I went off to find what I could about Zhang Shan.

    Nothing sinister at all.

Zhang's success boosted women's interest in the sport.
So much so the Olympic committee decided to split the genders.

However this 'new' sport for ladies did not include the 'Double Trap
Skeet' shoot. The event which Zhang won her gold.

The ladies everts were decided by the Ladies Shooting Committee
    made up of, funnily enough....Ladies.

Zhang's event was included for ladies in the 2000 Olympics.

To win the gold in 1992 Zhang actually hit 200 out of 200 targets.
An astonishing feat and..er...obvioulsy....an Olympic Record.

    Another interesting detail I discovered.

In the 1908 Paris Olympics the contestants actually fired at live pigeons.

You can just imagine the furore if that happened today.

Seems to be a bit of confusion both about Zhang Shan's Olympic record and the name of the event! Here's an article which contains both Greenpawn's "claims":
    http://www.bookrags.com/highbeam/shooting-1-hb/

However I think the references to "double trap skeet" are a mistake caused by the fact that the two different types of event are often listed next to each other (e.g. "trap, double trap, skeet"😉.

As for the record, I've seen it listed as 200/200, 223/225 and 373/375. Strange how there is no consensus for this!
