I could be mistaken but didn't the Russians prevent Reshevsky from winning Zurich 1953, by drawing matches against fellow Russians?
And wasn't there some Russians vs Fischer "conspiracies"?

I am so sorry, but I will take the example they gave me and not some internet chess site example of proper play.

What is that example? The powerful can corrupt and I LOVE IT!
