I was thinking that it would be interested to see your views on Android chess applications. Until now I like best:

Shredder(for puzzles, strength and the ELO rating evaluation)
Chess(because you can login to Fics and open .pgn databases.

You could always give Rival Chess a go and make Russ happy!

Something like chessbase for opponent preparation and something like chesstactics like I used to have on windows mobile or on chesstempo site...to get a rating while solving tactics and to get tactics for your rating only...and to get thematic tactics from specific opening...and some nicer pgm viewer with commented games...

I gave it a shot. Not bad but not exactly as per my needs.

yeah, Russ killed the thread, the Rivals Chess Android app is bug free (pretty much) and available in the marketplace.

Thread 138505 Reposted now the app has received a few fixes and minor enhancements.

Features will improve as we become more familiar with the Android platform. No integration with RHP though, that is getting its own app.

Kind reviews on the app store gratefully received. Bad reviews, not so much 🙂

I do not want to discourage you, but having another chess application which is not the best and does the same thing as the other 10 chess applications available is not so attractive.

Maybe this can help you make it more interesting:

on the other hand, some people want a free app that's simple to use and helps pass time whilst dropping the kids off at the pool, for example.

I like this one. Play on FICS or ICC. Set up board. PGN etc. Free does same but as guest on fics.

Oh and I asked for a rhp app 2 years ago. 🙂
