Another cheater gone.

Here is an early game from Mirke, back when he was missing mate in one against players with ratings barely over 1000: Game 2794948.

Then suddenly he worked out how to play and turns out games like this little beauty: Game 3308474.

As my friend DragonFire always tells me when I have have yet another rant about engine use (my rule of thumb is that anyone who beats me must be using an engine unless I have strong evidence to indicate the contrary), everyone has bad days and can blunder, but the way Mirke was improving he would have been World Champion by Christmas!

People do have good days and bad days. Some people have greater fluxuations in their play than others... but when you see such a huge difference in play like with those two games you have to be suspicious of where that improvement is coming from.

Someone losing to 1000 rated players today and beating 2000 rated players tomorrow is a dead giveaway. Even if the 2000 rated player made mistakes in that game, an increase in strength like that is amazing.

If his true Elo is 1000-1200 wouldn't his opponents have reported him earlier as all those wins should have raised suspicion?

There are mistakes and there are mistakes. Good players blunder, even miss mates in 1, but they do not play a whole game like a patzer against a 1000 player.

In the first game the opening moves were not consistent at all with a competent player and the standard of play was dire. He didn't make an isolated mistake but displayed a total lack of chess knowledge.

The rate of improvement shown is possible over a number of years from a youngster who had just learnt the moves when he started and who has an aptitude and learns quickly but such a player would soon be a GM. Of course the rate of improvement would be a progressive one that would be very possible for the mods to track.

This seems to be his last loss Game 2910879 before that sustained rise and it doesn't point to there being a superior ability in store.

DF you are pointing fingers at the wrong people. That game you have linked to is not the one involving the now banned player unless you are making fresh accusations.

Well seems that I was right, this user has now been banned. User 317387

I played this guy about 3 months ago when he was rated about 1000-1100. He dropped his queen on move 6. Since then he has gained about 700 rating points!Game 3171775

To be fair, Game 3171775 was decided by an appalling blunder by White rather than strong play by Black.

Yes I know, that's why I got suspicious when he started to improve so dramatically afterwards.

Sorry, my mistake. I thought that Frederik69 was playing Black and you were giving this game as an example of one where he beat a highly rated player.

I still don't get why people make engine moves. I really don't.
