What is the biggest type of mistake novice chess players make that advanced players dont? i.e. being to aggressive - going on the offense before our own house(defense) is set?

Not examining the opponents threats before deciding on their own move.

Needless exchanges. Novice players always seem over-eager to disolve a position, even when they have the upper hand leaving it the way it is. This could be due to misunderstandings involving the position itself, or maybe it's because novice players just like taking things with other things. Very satisfying click sound if you do it with one hand.

i've seen this tactic the most from novice players. they get a pawn attacking a piece and decide to give check with another piece. you block it with the pawn and then they lose a piece.

They tend to go for learning cheap traps instead of principles and ideas.

i would say they may get good Ideas like a sac but play it prematurely. I did that against a strong player but If i would have played something a move before I would be winning and would have a forced checkmate if he played the obvious move.
