I stumbled upon this opening called the Boungcloud Attack. It is basically 1. e4, e5 2. Ke2

That's right, the king moves on move #2. I have no idea why anyone would play such a move so early in the game, and this also prevents the King from castling. Not to mention it intentionally blocks the nearby Queen and bishop from moving. It's probably laughable.

You'll have to search on wikipedia to see what I mean.

Looking at the chess.com forums eh?

Hehe, I'll have you know I was the one that named that opening. I tell no lies.

The chess.com forums sound like a veritable hotbed of theoretical chess discussion.

There is a fair amount of chess theory discussed there. More than in here of late! There is also lighthearted stuff as there often is here. In fact, apart from the constant obsession with cheating, how to detect cheating, is anything being done about cheating, who should do something about cheating, oh won't somebody do something about the cheaters etc the chess.com forums look very similar to RHP forums.

That weird opening should really be the Bongcloud Attack (no u), named after a player who calls himself Lenny Bongcloud He seems determined to reach the lowest possible rating in the shortest possible time without doing anything too dubious.

Isn't 8...Bxd2+! 9.Bxd2...Rxh4 10.Bc3+...Nf6 winning?

It at least looks playable...

With, presumably 11.Nf3...Rg4 to follow.

Yes, I also wondered about that.

Edit: Maybe that's why we're over here and DawgHaus is over there.

Well, at least, white is read for the endgame, with a well centralyzed king. All the player must do now is trade all the pieces. 😛
