I haven't looked at today's games at all yet, but saw that Magnus Carlsen won - his first win ever against Aronian. The reactions on Norwegian websites were so enthusiastic that one could think he had already won the match. Not so, but their score is even now, so he does have fair chances. Leko and Kamsky won with white as well, Rublevsky won with black, the rest were draws.

Without disrespecting Gurevich he seems to have lost the match against Leko psychologically or maybe he is giving Leko too much respect. In the first game some of his rook moves and moving the King towards the oncoming pawns was not good. Todays game he was moving back and forth like a newbie.
Bareev-Polgar is interesting because although Bareev has worked as a second for Kasparov, both Polgar and Bareev have played very few games in the last year.

I think Bareev will win Polgar.
Michael Adams won with Black today!
Judit Polgar lost against Bareev and it looks like she's on the way out. I always knew girls couldn't play chess. I never know what to make of Bareev, when he is good he is very, very good, but when he is bad he is horrid.
For me the most exciting result is Kamsky beating up Bacrot, and not merely because it's always good to see a Frenchman lose. Kamsky was a great player when he stopped playing and it looks like he could become one of the elite players again if he keeps up this sort of form.

Can anyone remind me how qualification for this worked?
