Hi BigDogg,

I know he said after his 12-12 v Caruana, has he said it again more recently.

At the end of the day his actions just hurt chess.

The best in the world and arguably the best ever and he can't respect the Title.

Our Chess Gods fight until they lose.

He will be no Chess God.

He is nothing more than another Fischer.

I was borrowing it to reply to a post here. 🙂

@BigDogg

Stop interrupting!

Magnus Carlsen said yesterday that he will NOT be playing in the next World Championship.

So it's Ding vs Nepo.

I'm rooting for Ding.
Mr. Carlsen has nothing left to prove.

He is avoiding a loss just like the coward Fischer.

It only hurts chess.

A loss? To whom, Nepo, who he's already beaten more than once?

Fischer was a notorious crank who stood a real chance of losing to Karpov. He made demands and walked out of an already arranged match, and out of chess altogether.

Carlsen is a respected player who might lose to Caruana, but not likely to Nepo. He has been corresponding honestly with FIDE and has given enough notice that a match between the next two candidates can be arranged. He will keep playing, just not for the championship.

The situations are far from the same.

@mchill
ok then just play the match for the money, like any sane person would do. I hope he ends up in the bread line, living on the streets when his money runs out....what a jerk....

What a little-man attitude! Just as well Magnus is bigger than that, preferring his love for the game for the mere worship of the Mammon.

It's all Firouzja's fault (apology for misspelling if warranted) for not winning the candidates

I disagree. I'm not exactly a Fischer fan myself, but this game is far bigger than one person. Chess is played by nearly 500 million people. They're not all going to get depressed and stop playing just because Mr. Carlsen won't defend his title. 🙄

@Shallow-Blue
you need to explain your post 😀 He has soooo much love of the game that he refuses to play a match.....how does that compute? ..a few years from now, when his money runs out he'll have regrets ....DUH ...

He's disrespecting the WC Title and the history of the past World Champions.

World Champions are supposed fight until the next WC comes along.
Quitting like a baby is pathetic.

Doing something like this when Chess is more popular than ever is bad in my opinion.

Magnus isn't just some WC like a Spassky or a Smyslov... Magnus is arguably the best ever.

Remember when Kasparov left Fide and their were years of lame chess because the best player wasn't in the World Championship?
We are entering into one of those phases again and it will only hurt the integrity of the World Championship.

Well said if I do say so myself 🤔
