Apparently his language has also been affected by being in China. From http://www.chess-pearlspring.com/www/chess_pk/2009/en/dsdt_mb_a39091001100417.htm:
Carlson said: "This is very complex game of chess, I think my opponent was something of an adventure, he gave up black-square elephant, leading his black square to very weak, and I had a great deal of initiative. In particular, in the 30th to 40th steps, I had great advantages, but because of time constraint, I stepped a mistake to the 40th round, and lost an important pawn. Nevertheless, I think the follow-up situation was still good, but my opponent was very good defensively, and I finally resorted to a draw. "
They are playing with elephants! 😀

Hehe, best name EVAH!~

I for one enjoyed his fashionable red Chinese silk shirt, it was a bold stroke. But he is quickly becoming the monster at the board everyone thought he would be. Magrrysus Carlsparov...it just sounds scary!! 😲

they slap each other with cods. one slap means 'correct', two slaps 'incorrect'.

(garri speaks fine english, and although I don't know how well magnus speaks it, shouldn't be a big problem as norwegian is so similar to english. -although, if magnus really spoke of elephants, instead of it being a translation glitch, it would suggest he speaks russian. which would make it all real simple. but I suspect it's a translation thing.)

Anyone know who Carlsen's nemesis is? Anyone beat him much more than they're expected to based on ratings?
