will RHP be trying chess 960?

Russ had a survey about this a little while back. Sadly (for me, anyway), it didn't look like there was a lot of interest in Chess960.

Why is it called Chess960? Not a very catchy name.

Because as well as the standard opening position, there are 959 other ways the pieces can be arranged on the 1st rank.

Fischer Random is another name.

So FischerRandom and Chess960 are the same? I thought there was some subtle differances in the the rules regarding castling and the bishops, or am I thinking of another chess variant?

It's the same. Two names, same game.

You can play chess960 on RHP only its unrated.

Start a new game.
Choose "set up your own board"
Select "Fischer Random Start"

Did they ever add support for castling?

No. Have to resetup a board to compensate

If Russ rewrite the castling part of the chess rules routine to match Fischer Random castling, then this routine is usable in classic chess as well.

But I'm not really so interested anymore. I was once, but now, no. If Fischer Random is implemented or not, I don't care. I will not play it.

ICC used to have a weekly tourn, maybe still does. I remember it struggled to fill week after week. It was only the enthusiasm of the tourn manager that kept it going. PopeJohn was the guys handle, I think, so maybe if he was THE PopeJohn the tourn died with him:-)

I guess it will never be as popular as some would hope.

What time control? I tried playing Chess960 on ICC at slow blitz (like 2 12 or something - you can often find a match there). I didn't enjoy it too much. It felt like I needed to play some slow games to get my bearings before I played blitz.
