You saw it? Then buy your copy before it's sold! Randy Bauer (but not just him!) gave it a 10/10 in his quality reviews at <chessopolis>. Jeremy Silman also has a to be trusted review section at his web site.
Buy the Nunn-book! Asap!
This week I also got Nunn's predecessor, so to speak, Irvin Chernev's 'Logical Chess: Move by Move'. Great buy too. Honest.

Nice weekend for all.

Help!!!

Are there any computer experts around here? It happens now and again: I write a text in Word, select all & copy. But: when I paste it to be posted it ALWAYS appears thrice. Helpless me! Resue me, please.

Greetz!

Jan
Jan would it help to save a copy of the document as a .txt file in Word, or copy and paste it into Notepad? Just a suggestion.

Thanks, I'll look for it.

Amazon.com often has used books. Be sure to specify some other shipping method than US Post Office standard. You will get Media Mail (i.e. 'book rate'😉 and will wait for weeks.
Unfortunately I no longer use amazon out of principle...

I ordered a book.
They then told me it was out of stock.
Next day I check and it is back on their web-site for £10 more.

Now I used to spend alot at amazon (last order for books cds was ~ £200) and although I'm probably not in top buyers, I must still represent a good customer. However when I complained, they didn't seem to care or take any of this in to account.
Therefore I have voted with my feet and will never use them again - there are plenty of other stores...

Thanks for the tip though, I do appreciate your reply

100 great games + interesting commentary on some of the worlds greatest ever players. Very enjoyable.

PS Ebay sometimes good for out of print books - I got a copy of Fishers 60 Memorable games on it (although it did have to come from USA to UK).
Hi!

A couple of months ago I bought 'The Mammoth Book of Chess' (Graham Burgess, forword by John Nunn). A great book, from beginner through at least intermediate.

'The Mammoth Book of Chess' is a cracker ... nobody will fail to find something new here. (British Chess Magazine)

Buy it! (Chess Post)

'The Mammoth Book of Chess' will become a must-buy for players looking for a big, thick, general purpose book. (Sunday Express)

Features include:
* Updated sections on computer and Internet chess to help readers get the most out of these fast-changing media
* Complete guide to the main chess openings
* Hundreds of test positions
* Practical advice on further study
* Information and advice on club and tournament chess
* Glossary of all the main chess terms
* Courses in tactics and attacking strategy
* Accounts of local, national and international chess events
* A selection of the greatest games ever played

A fully revised and updated edition of the book that won the 1997 British Federation Book of the Year Award

Comprehensive, up to date and easy to follow, this invaluable new guide to the game will enable players with very little experience to progress to good club level or better.

Graham Burgess, FIDE Master and experienced chess writer (I also have his 'The Complete Alekhine, jp) leads the way into this mysterious and cosmopolitan world, through major international tournaments, and into games played out on the Internet.

My chessfriend and upstairs neighbour girl, here playing as jssPolgar on my pc, has borrowed it from me (sort of confisquated it, really!) and seems to greatly enjoy it it. I consider to let her have it and buy a new copy for myself. It's a great buy for peanuts: appr. £ 8 for 537! pages of sheer chess pleasure!

Cheerio!
