I would hate to be as desperate as those paying €80-€100 per hour for a lesson when you are not following the same advice in a book on your shelf. You should be able to gauge areas in your game that need improvement and then ttake the necessary action.
"Can you reproduce what is in the books?".....Pretty much. Its not a case of me not learning the information in the books its a case of most middle game principle books contain around 80% of information iv already learnt.

Software is boring as hell. I dont waste my time playing it. I can beat the vast amount of club players.

We could all learn any subject without tutoring. I do enjoy self learning but there comes a time when you will need a specialists help if you want to keep improving.

€80-100 per an hour is stupid. Id pay around maybe 20 euros an hour.

I wouldnt want to pay more than £15 an hour.

Iv found quite a few GMs who offer lessons for about this rate but before I decide I would welcome peoples recommendations as to their own tutors?

Thanks in advanced.
I've been an international master for a while and have just recently become a grandmaster, 15bucks an hour is ok by me but where do you live, if it's too far for me to travel you must be willing to travel to me 🙂

I cant understand some peoples hostile attitude to chess teachers. Is it because they wont pay to improve so fear others will get better than they are?

Muhaha are you an IM for real ? See Game 1360896 You gave away a piece for nothing. That makes you more like 1400-1500 rather than 2400-2500.

One more thing recommended by Botvinnik is the analysis of master games. It is one thing to kibitz through Kramnik-Topalov on TWIC/Playchess but another to ponder/seriously study the moves of their game understanding thought processes etc.

Tal (who I never met but read about), used to say that he would watch tutorials on TV meant for beginners/intermediate players. I dunno how this helped establish him as one of the greatest tacticians but if he did that then most of us should follow his example.
