You have done the A's. I cannot see Alexander Alekhine's name.
He was famous, he was a world champion.
And where is Adams, Mickey Adams. English GM and world champion
candates qualifer.
And the other Adams, Knitting Adams, No....Sowing Adams....No...
OK forget him what about Aagaard, Jacob Aagaard?
How many A's does you name have to start with before you as a
Grandmaster can get in the 'A' section of a list of famous people
who played chess.
I've remembered. It's Weaver Adams. What about him?
Where did you get this list from Bobby and there is going to be hell to pay
if and when we get to the C's and all they have is my son Murray and my dad Raymond.
Originally posted by greenpawn34Lauren Bacall learned to play chess from her husband, Humphrey Bogart, who was an avid chess player. (He used to regularly play chess whilst on set, waiting for his scene(s))

I went to a weekend chess tournament around 1981 in California and saw Peter Falk there. I remember Seirawan was playing on board 1 against Jack Peters (I think) and Falk pulled a chair mext to their table and started watching their game. It was funny because it was roped off. No one said anything though.
P.S. Yes, he wore his famous trench coat.😀

Bogart was a member of California Chess Association, both as a player (candidate for National master) and referee. He used to play blitz in some LA club, but it was probably the part of his secret agent-activities. His wife, however, never played chess. Neither did Napoleon and Che Gevara; their "games" are pure invention. Lenin did not play chess either... 😉
