If you are asking where I got my facts you are in a fantasy world. Its all over the news, financial aid people are barely getting enough to get by, our social security funds given to people who are not even citizens of the united states and also the age to be eligeable for social security is rising. I forgot one above, our war veterins are being treated like crap!! I know several people that were neglected for their healthcare after coming home from the war. The military doesn't even acknowlidge that PTSD even exists!! I know a guy who could not come home until he signed a waver saying he had no illneses and if he didn't sign it he would be redeployed!! If you honestly don't know that we have huge problems here in america you are either A highly stupid B a rich republican or C a very ignorant person.

I said it earlier...i will NEVER respect his views...but have any of you ever gone through his games? You look at Tal and Alekhine and you see attack...you look at Petrosian and you see defense.
Bobby was the most complete chess player the world will ever see.
He had no computers or databases...he had books...which is why I only use books to this day. ...[text shortened]... anything like he has...I am just saying...forget his crap and remember the good he did.

as a 17 year old high school student in U.S. History class, it bothers me so much how they don't ever mention his influence on American culture when he beat Spassky. some think chess is dorky, and well, that's their opinion. but in 1972, when he beat Spassky, it didn't matter if you knew that it was a knight and not a horsey; everyone knew Fisher's name, and he was someone all of america rallied behind. Easily as significant as when we beat them on the ice... it just hasn't received recent recognition (i.e. a movie)
Wouldn't it be great if someone came out with a movie... a full length feature film about what was happening with that 1972 win? they have all sorts of sources. Pal Benko, as you mentioned. I'm sure the USCF president at the time is still around. they have all the sources they need to re-create one of the most significant events of the Cold War for our posterity to enjoy and learn from... but they won't. and that's sad.

personally, I think you're full of $hit.
have you seen fischer lately?....he looks worse than korchnoi and fischer is what? 15 years younger?
plus who cares how good he was way back then.....that was then this is now.
boobie was scared that he wouldn't be the best forever so he ran away.
he's a punk.
And eventually....unless he dies due to his many diseases....the good ole US of A will arrest him and put him in jail for that 1992 match that wasn't allowed.
Originally posted by chessisvanityhe didn't run away...he refused to play because the conditions of the match did not meet his demands!!!
how so?....

Originally posted by chessisvanityI think Karpov wouldn't have lasted past 6 games with Fischer.
demands? what f**ckin demands do u need?...sit down and play.
i also just read some articles...i think he has already passed away.
plus...what other champs had crazy demands? or any demands?
karpov woulda crushed boobie.
Originally posted by chessisvanityOk chess...we are buddies but come on...Fischer asked for the 10 game no draws counting...the same thing they had when Lasker played his matches.
well you and fischer have something in common.
you both think that what is in your head is always right.
Fischer is dying. Good.
respond all you want.
I'm going to have a wonderful sleep knowing that boobie fischer is dying.
FIDE met everyone of his demands...except that. So he said no.
And what was the first match between Karpov...who they gave the title to...and Kasparov?
First one to 6...no draws counting. It lasted forever...which is why they said they would not do it for Fischer.
Morphy challenged the whole world with pawn and move...no takers.
Fischer asked for a system that was used in the beginning...he was denied.
I can't stress enough about how I hate the man Fischer has become...but when it comes to chess...he was on top of the board...everyone beneath.
Simple as that.

If you have not learned this yet the russians dominated chess and they created the rules and owned everyone! Fischer was trying to revoluionize chess, nobody likes to see someone win one game then draw every damn game afterwards to win a championchip. How boring!!! Chess is for the bravehearted and not for the faint, had chess changed to a game where you had to win a championchip through wins it may have saved the game. Tell me this name a successful game that is aired on tv where there is a winner declared by a draw.
I think the functions of government include the preservation and creation of independent art, not just instituting a police force and army, etc. to preserve and propogate itself. There's a story of Fischer when he was a talented kid. A wealthy man offered to bankroll his travels, chess study, etc as long as Fischer would say he couldn't have become a great chess player without this benefactor. Fischer backed right out of the deal, saying only he had responsibility for his success. If you look at F's career, youd be amazed at how many times he refused to take the money. Even now he could make a fortune with his own autobiography, but he said he's done with chess, which is his privilege. Sure, he's a rabid anti-semite and you may think he's a jerk for being so, but i don't think you'll find anywhere where he's deliberately hurt anybody. I say let the guy be. It's his life and as long as he doesn't hurt anybody...
