Anand goes for 16 ... Nf6 which is not popular in this variation.

As was to be expected a very soild line by Anand, the Lasker variation is one of the most solid responses against d4. I think Anand knows hes better at rapid (and especially blitz) and want to beat Topalov in the tie-break.

I expected Topalov to play 19. b3 then attempt to win the c5 pawn.

I dont like Rf2 from Topalov, I think Anand is just equal now, he has a clear plan for all his pieces while I dont know what Topalov wants now...

Agreed, he may not have seen all this going for 19. Qc2 that black gets the d-file and Topy weakens the position around his king.

Topalov just blundered. It seems he's lost.

I had expected g5 rather than qe8. from that position.

I wonder if Topalov is wishing he could offer a draw now. That King's Gambit isn't looking so bad now...

What a game we've had. Could anyone have predicted this?

I'm genuinely surprised that Anand has won. I'd have expected Danailov to smash his face in at the first hint of defeat today. Maybe Danailov is growing soft. Still, Anand hasn't got out of the country yet
