You ever notice some players move rate slows down when they are hopelessly lost ?The purpose of this is they are hoping that you die from natural causes before they time out.

It's quite common on here. Funnily enough, I tend to do the opposite - if I'm losing I can't stand the sight of it, so I usually speed up if anything just to get the debris of my pieces out of sight. I'm sure I'm not alone in this.

It could happen. None of us will live forever.

Also, the way the ratings are calculated sometimes doing this benefits you. If your opponents rating goes up, then you resign at the right moment and lose less points. It also can backfire and he's rating goes down and you hit resign and lose more points.

Risky stuff.

Someone died at a chessboard onces in a winning situation. I'm not sure what they did about the result. His opponent was prolonging the game and the guy with the winning position died. OTB game.

If I was a tournament director in that case, who ever times out loses.
So if you are the losing fellow, and your opponent dies, and it is your move ,make any legal move then hit the clock.

I slow down when I get into tough spots, it's just common sense really. haste makes waste.

That is true.
I found that if I come to a critical possition I need to pause and slow it down.Give myself a chance to change the initiative.

I played against a guy who totally outplayed me in a private challlenge. He couldn't wait for me to make a move.
But now in a clan challenge, i'm up in both games he won't make a move, but yet he comes online to play other games.
What can you do??๐Ÿ™„
