Yeah, I agree it's very cool opening to spring on somebody...

Also, amazingly, it's even stronger to play it as the black side,
like in

1. e4 e5 2. Nf3 Nc6 3. Nc3 Nf6 4. g3 Nxe4 5. Nxe4 d5!

since white has taken away the g3 square! WHat a weird gambit that it's actually okay for black to give up a knight.

The first time I was confronted with the Halloween Gambit, I had never heard about it and didn't use a database, so I am a bit proud that I won the game:

Seems way too risky to me, don't even bother trying to prove me wrong - it's just my opinion.

Last time this was posted I played the guy in a game and crushed him. So go ahead and lose if you care to.

It sure is, but it can be a hell lot of fun! I usually don't play it against higher rated players anymore, though.

lol, i have no doubt that you can beat me anytime with any opening 😉

but sometimes everything works out and we get games like this, lol, I just love playing it. Almost always nice and short games, either you win or lose in less then 20 moves, lol

I'll play it against anyone at anytime 🙂 but like you can see at my rating, lol, it does not always work out for me.

Well, I have been a Halloweenist for a long time. 😉 I play it less now, though, as it's not really a sound opening. My newest fun opening is the Dutch, which also makes for some crazy games without being unsound.
