Is their a cheap (under $20) database program where you can store your own games and play them on a computer chess board. I don't care if it anlyses my games, Ill try and do that on my own, I just want a place where I can store my games from noncomputer/internet sources.

Remember- for what im looking for...cheaper is better

I think so. Give it a shot. It's free. What do you have to lose?

Personally, I would not bother. There is no substitute for just getting out a board and playing through your games slowly to find mistakes.

In analysing any game: I advise playing through the game quickly at first to get a feel for it, and then playing through slowly, spending a few minutes on what move you would play next and evaluating your choice compared with the text. I find you can learn a lot with this method.

Another option is to buy an older version of Fritz, which has a built in database function and will help you analyze.

There's a free one: Shane's Chess Information Database (scid)

http://scid.sourceforge.net/

You can use any winboard compatible engine for analysis and the like.

I'm sure somone here can tell you what the problem is. If it absolutely refuses to run go to the above site and download Chesspad. It's also free and you can use one of the free engines for analysis. They also have plenty of other free stuff to experiment with.
