Actually, I know another way of resigning. People get up and walk away from the board and never come back - I believe there have been some famous cases where this has happened at a point of the game where a spectacular win has been looming.

Ooh, I'd love to have someone pull that one on me. Not only would I win the game, but I'd get to file an ethics violation on him. Possibly getting him suspended for a time. It would be great fun!

Here, I believe that the ending of this game was added on whereas the opponent actually left the hall before it could be played.

It is worth a look, the ending is extremely good.

Yes, Dorking is just around the corner. Horsham is closer though & they have a very active club & their 1st & 2nd teams are both in mid Sussex div 1 as (now) is Crawley 1.
Yeah we played them in a friendly last year, actually I need to email them to get another this year, it's our turn to visit them.

I turn my king on side. I do the same when I've been checkmated as well.

I prefer the Nimzowitch method of getting up on the table and yelling at my opponent "how can I lose to such an idiot"
All kidding aside I will always shake my opponents hand and say good game even if I blew it!

Quite often when somebody resigns a game against me on here I have a reflex action of reaching out my hand to shake with them.

I was thinking to myself, I like the old saying that goes "the winner is always the loser"
Especially aplicable after losing a game of chess.

I usually say "Oh, look at the time! I must be off! Well, that's an easy point for you then!" 😀
