How to freak out your opponent

Either OTB or RHP chess.

Here's one for RHP:

Message them during a game, asking why they never put anything into the "Notebook."

Or just constantly ask your RHP opponents not to look at you in that way because it puts you off.

One way to irritate people is, after every move, mumble or message something like, "Fisher-Spassky, Reykjavik, 1970" or "Bottvinik-Tal, Moscow, 1983." You can make these up. Drives players wild. ;-)

(Rob64: I'm not talking about you! I find your game references (and move lists) quite interesting. Especially when I improve on Fisher's responses in the KGA!)

send your queen right into a line of pawns. when they ask why you did it, just say that she wont stop telling you to kill so you got rid of her.

When playing OTB, eveyr time your opponent moves, get a look on your face. Like you're struggling to keep your poker face. They'll take longer to move. Plus, it's funny.

everytime you are about to move, cock your head to the side and say "uh huh, okay.. you sure?"

then shrug and move

stare at your opponent for a long time, until they ask "what??!!?"

and say "i`m wearing a new pair of socks!"

Say, "there's something wrong with this board." They'll say "what?" Don't answer them, and keep looking for something.

In OTB chess, every time your opponent moves, let loose a little giggle. ;-)

This was said to me on several occasions by a strangely reptilian old man when I went along to Darlington chess club and played him some time in 1995. I lost and was so scared I never went back.
