In a children's tournament recently, I saw a position that arose in one of the games: all the pawns were gone, sitting there like defeated, battle-scarred, forlorn foot-soldiers off the board, and all the pieces were back on their original starting squares. I guess that's a way not to improve your chess. I've never seen anything like it before.

Don't look at the pieces. Be a man and play blindfold. The ultimate test of the human mind. 🙂

:'( I used to do that.

Good chess mantra we all heard dozen of times in numerous chess books; "Always assume your opponent will see your threats and make the best possible move " . Well, following that rule, you might resign at the very first move. So what, you will lose some games but at least you'll build right mental principles and thinking processes.
