There you will find lots of helpful articles about Fritz, for some basic things look at the Fritz 8 and 9 articles.

If you are have trouble doing a specific thing and you can't be bothered to read through pages of articles, just ask and I will see if I can help.

The single best thing you can do with fritz in the inital stages is to play the FRIEND mode under the GAME > LEVELS menu. It adjusts it strength to your play making every game a CLOSE one. As you get better, so does Fritz.

Afterwards, have Fritz analyze the game and learn from it.

Don't just play against the computer from move 1. And don't just use the analyze a game feature blindly.

Load up your OTB games (or games here) and continuously "play out" certain positions, especially the ones you found difficult, trying different ideas and variations.

For example, if you were losing, play your opponents side and carefully note the defensive techniques/tactics used by the computer. I found this aspect very useful.

Also, in those "equal" middlegame positions where both sides are solid and you had no idea what to do, again play it out against the engine. Without glaring blunders or tactical blows sometimes the analyze feature does not point out anything and simply skips a few moves. In fact these type of positions are critical so again play it out and watch how the computer handles the position.

I find just using the analyze the game feature and looking at the suggested variations is not the same as replaying it completely. Sticks in your memory better.

It's about getting ideas not necessarily memorizing specific lines.
