BTW, I'm not really insulted, but Ragnorak certainly has a right to be. Once my rating gets out of provisional, I'm pretty sure it's not going to be nearly as good as Ragnorak's. I'm not much more than a beginning chess player. (I've learned the basic tactics and general opening principles, but no detailed openings.)
Originally posted by RagnorakI think at least one of the problems was, that by exchanging the white e-pawn you doubled the defensive scope of the white bishop. after the exchange it could defend against all of your pawns reaching the promotion square, instead of clumsily circumventing the e4 pawn. a huge help in securing the draw.
... Any principle to be aware of?
Originally posted by zebanoThanks for that. I can't remember the line that I thought I saw.
In the game play continued 37. Bg6 Kc5 I think that instead 37... Be6 would have won For example...
... be6
Bf5, Bxf5
(exf5 is a win for black as long as you mind the fact that g5 gives him a passed f-pawn)
gxf5, Kc5
b3, d5
exd, Kxd
h5, e4 when black pushes the pawn down then runs his king over to nab the exposed b-pawn
