You could have got his knight for the rook, leaving you winning still i think?

he had 2 tempos over me plus it would have been. a rook plus no castling for two minor pieces.

so??? I would take 2 minor pieces for a rook any day of the week and since the position is closed, the loss of castling isn't that big a deal.

Instead of e5, Qe7 and Kd8 both stop the knight fork and leave you better. I would go with Kd8 myself but you could have gone Qe7 if castling really worried you. Even after the knight fork you weren't really losing.

I agree - you just resigned a winning game or atleast even.

To paraphrase NM (national master) Pete Karagianis who is active in my area...
It's not which pieces you have, it's how many you have and where they are.

Besides, even if you were slightly worse, your opponent is hardly good enough that you should be resigning.

Its difficult to give advice on a game so full of holes.

Work on tactics and stop dropping pieces.

Even so in the end position why resign? The Knight is not going to get out but black was already a piece up so is still 2 pieces for a Rook up. Play on, black can still win this.

In fact I would play on even a whole Rook down as with whites play being what it was there is a chance I'd claw even that back.

I'm learning a little about making the opponents pieces useless. Even if material is even if the material isn't doing a useful job then you might as well knock it off the board.

Eyes on the prize. The rook is useless at the moment, so even with it gone, you're pretty well off.
