Why won't you just go away with your horrible opening suggestions? f5 is fine, but not many people use it. Plus you haven't even hit 1300 - heard of tactics?

    or maybe he'll just 1. Nf3 c5 2. c4

I meet Nf3 with d5 find that it often transposes to a 1. d4 opening (unless of course they planned to play the KIA system from the start)

I play 1..Nf6. The games tend to go into a Slav or 1.d4 opening.

and I don't play the Slav so...

is it just me, or does a person playing the Sicilian Dragon and the QGD Slav seem like conflicting styles?

    prolly just me

That is exactly the response i would be looking for in playing Nf3. Going into a Queens gambit with a pawn on d5 is great for white (IMO that is..)

So what I'm reading is that 1.Nf3 is probably the best transpositional device for white? so... what should I play in order to better understand positions such as 1.Nf3 d5 2.c4 d4? because this variation is the one I would probably least enjoy facing and I'm not too keen on transposing into a Qpawn game.

It depends what you are trying to achieve. If you don't like the line you stated, play a different move order...

    Nf3 ..d5
    d4

I play this response to 1..d5 every game...

maybe I should start playing 1.d4 then? in order to get familiar with that line... I've almost always played 1.e4 so it would be good none the less.

    Thanks for the replies everyone

Just you. πŸ˜› Semi-Slav might conflict with the Dragon a bit, but what response to 1.d4 doesn't? Tony had a pretty large influence in convincing me to use the Semi-Slav tbh. He uses both too, so go yell at him. πŸ˜›

1.At least I KNOW how to spell.

2.At least I know how to play the openings I use - which are clearly superior to whatever crap you've chosen.

I meet d4 with the KID mostly, with the occasional QGD (It's solid and I learned it first)

tbh, I do love the Dragon, but actually prefer playing the white pieces in it. Besides, I know the black side of the Accelerated Dragon way better than the regular Dragon.
