    Requiescat in pace, Igor Ivanov. We will miss you. You left, a great chess champion, with a chess title that most of us chess players will never attain. And you were human with a human weakness that many suffer from and many do not overcome Most will not judge you and will honor you, and most are thankful for you contribution to chess. Again, rest in peace.

    I met Igor shortly after he defected to Canada back in the 80's.
    I found him to be gracious and a true gentleman.
    We were always happy to have him as a guest at many of our chess tournaments in San Antonio.
    He was a great chessplayer in every sense of the word.
    Those who were fortunate to have met and known him will miss him greatly.
