As far as I know its impossible. The software will not allow an illegal move! Are you talking en passant?

you mean the 16th, and it's called taking 'en passant'. look it up, and also make sure you know what's a 'stalemate', '3-move repetition' and '50-move rule' while you're at it. my guess is some of those might be new to you as well.

I guess you mean move 16. This is not an illegal move. It is called en passant. Look at the FAQ for an explanation. (http://www.redhotpawn.com/help/index.php?help=enpassant).

What's your problem? Just because someone doesn't know a piece of information doesn't make him a moron. Please stop ripping other posters for no reason. It's getting annoying.

We all had to learn sometime - some of us are still learning.

In the 1974 Karpov v Korchnoi match this position arose.
White (Korchnoi) to play.

Korchnoi went to the arbiter, Alberic O'Kelly, to ask if it was OK for
White to play 18.0-0 here. Korchnoi thought because the White Rook
was attacked then castling kingside may be illegal.

(Castling Kingside in this case IS permitted.)
The game continued 18.0-0 Bxc4 19.f4 1-0.

This is what I do not understand. The law is 'if one of the castleing squares is attacked, castling is not permitted'. But, in this case, it was decided castleing was permitted.

I know it's tricky - it even caught Korchnoi.

The King cannot Castle out of check and must not pass through check.

The Rook is not restricted by this rule.

The square h1 is attacked - the King does not go though or land
on h1 so castling is allowed.
