Chess takes time and work. For example, I learned the rules of chess at 10 and played maybe a dozen games only to be reintroduced to it 7 years later. It took me well over a year to go from 1300->1700+ online (OTB is certainly harder). It won't happen overnight even if you're a genius. Even Kasparov and Fischer had to put more work than one can imagine to get to their level. It's maybe 1% genius and 99% hard work.
How does one study chess? I hear that you should start off learning the endgame then focus on middle game and opening. How do you study end games? Openings seem easy to study. Especially on a site where you can devote a few games to looking up positions while you are playing.
I have chessmaster 10 and it has a few things like avoiding mate, mating with queen or rook and king against king and two pawns and a king against a king. But a lot of my games never get down to that little of material. Not saying the program isn't helping me because now I've learned to gain the opposition and queen then mate without stalemating. I've also started looking at things differently. I've downloaded a few books that have positions where it's mate in 1 3 5 7 but typing out the fen is exhausting.
How do _you_ study the endgame?

Hi guys, i'm so stupid, i don't think i will ever be good at chess. It seems that all the grand masters are all exceptional intellectuals, and i have read articles, bought a game, a book, and i'm still playing stupidly. Is it my intelligence that holds me back?
Guys sorry if I'm angering you. I'm just very self concious about my intelligence. I do really want to be good at chess, and i do want to put the time in, but i'm just worried that i could be wasting my time because chess is mostly a thinking game, and my IQ kind of shows me how pathetic i am logically.

That is how not to go about it, simply play more and learn from your mistakes simple.
