Hi guys, i'm so stupid, i don't think i will ever be good at chess. It seems that all the grand masters are all exceptional intellectuals, and i have read articles,bought a game, a book, and i'm still playing stupidly. Is it my intelligence that holds me back?

For reference, I have played competitvely for 6 years. I first learned how to play when I was 7, so it takes much more than a week. Just try and enjoy it.

it takes time, and a ridiculous amount of persistent work to get any better at chess. that's why it's so fun. the hill to climb is endless no matter how hard you try. even the best player can't see the top of the mountain, there is always more hill to climb.

Don’t put yourself down. It’s going to take many long nights before you can play good chess! Intelligence dose help, but experience is more important.

It took me only two weeks to get to grandmaster level. Don't fret, you only have a week to go!

I once read that the dirty secret of chess is that it's not for smart people - it's for people with a lot of time on their hands. 🙂 Not that being very smart doesn't help, but what makes you good is working hard at it.

Don't try uchess. Thats a blitz site. It won't help you get better.

i play 25/5 there, its not much of a rush. i learn more there than i do here when people days or weeks to move.
