Game 161025

Could someone help me out here please?

I believe neither my opponent nor I have sufficient material left to force checkmate, and therefore the game is drawn. However, I keep claiming the draw but nothing happens to end the game, my opponent just keeps on playing, so where do we go from here?

Am I correct in thinking that a lone knight and king cannot force mate? I don't believe I am asking for help with a game in progress as I believe the game to already over...is this correct?

Many thanks to all who graciously respond.

Your opponent likes vasting both your guys time.

2 options:

One tell him is a draw and if he accepts then fine

Second one, continue playing pointless and after 50 moves you can claim a draw by the 50 move rule since there are no pawns left. I believe there is a posted number under the timebank. X number of moves since pawn move or capture.

Or you could also capture his knight if he left you 🙂

there's this thing called the internet which is often good for research...

So, yes, the game is drawn...why it is not recognized is a mystery

Yes that game is indeed utterly drawn. Even against worst play a lone knight cannot mate.

Draw by lack of material isn't a way of claiming a draw via the site as far as I know. You will have to talk to your opponent and offer a draw instead.

Many thanks to all who responded. I will message my opponent and see if he's in a reasonable mood! lol.

If he is not resonable, I suggest trying to get into a stalemate.

What's the matter with you guys? It's a win! You haven't recognised that this particular knight is Champion The Wonder Horse- he has magical powers. See him leap!

There should be a judge or a referee at RHP that could judge and force a draw if needed.

Of course it's a draw! No discussion about it!

Funny! I'm amazed that the other player has such a high rating, he surely should know that the game's a draw.

....Perhaps its because of the rating [s]he is doing it.....

Think about it.....

You countine play and wait for rep or 50 moves.....meanwhile you could actually win the game because of timebank....

perhaps they are trying to conserve the rating points.

But then he/she only has 60 games played so although a healthy rating maybe he has not come accross this before, I find some higher rated players can fall down on end games as they tend not to get the practice 🙂

Yes mate is impossible if the superior side has only a King and a minor piece (Bishop or Knight). Even if the inferior side's K is in a corner the superior side's K can only cover two of the necessary four squares, and the minor piece cannot cover the other two as they are different colours.
